Artistic Tile display from KBIS 2012 featuring new hand-carved stone tile from India.

Artistic Tile display at KBIS 2012

This year at KBIS we were stopped in our tracks when we saw the new hand-carved tile on display in the Artistic Tile booth. Each stone piece was carved by hand in India, and the texture and color is stunning. Although there are several patterns, the block pattern inspired us the most.

Rachel Lupton, bstyle Interior Designer, talked about designing a shower wall with the various sized blocks. “I can imagine a beautiful powder room wall,” I commented.

These stone pieces could also be accents inside larger stone pieces for an updated effect. The color would blend with a variety of marble or limestone.

Part of the reason we are drawn to this stone is the rustic and refined quality of its appearance. The stone is subtly veined and yet the square pattern is bold and reminiscent of larger square motifs from the 1970s. “It has a Bali feel to it,” I commented.

Head to the Artistic Tile website to learn more about their hand-carved tile.
